Hawthorn usually blossoms a little later than blackthorn so the latter was on the turn when the artist painted these and wanted to show how they related to the colours and forms around where they were sited. The artist made abstract compositions capturing the white grey of the blossoms and giving hints of sky and the grass fields.
This artist takes inspiration from the surrounding landscape whether it be countryside, a street scene or even a room interior. Whilst this may be the starting point for a painting, the finished pieces may appear more abstract at first glance. The artist’s use of contrasting colours provides vibrancy and balance within each composition.
The artist has exhibited widely including the Royal Institute of Oil Painters Exhibition at The Mall Galleries.
